HVT's tap classes offer the L.G.T.D.A. tap syllabus.
This syllabus produces excellent tap technique and a
thorough knowledge of all tap variations. Pupils are
encouraged to participate in annual examinations, which
provide great incentive for improvement. HVT currently
has a 100% exam pass rate. Pupils will also be taught
performance skills such as group work, stagecraft and
song & dance.
Children will be exposed to the Royal Academy of Dance
(R.A.D.) syllabus which is the most recognised ballet
organization in the world. The R.A.D. believes in the
importance of every student having an attainable goal.
Progress is measured either by examination or a presentation
class. However, examinations are not compulsory.
While studying a classical Ballet class you can also
have the opportunity to be a part of our Contemporary
classes. Contemporary's style of dance utilizes the
body's natural lines and energy, allowing a greater
range and fluidity of movement than conventional dance
techniques. Contemporary can be danced to almost any
style of music, or united with other dance forms to
create new styles of movement.
Classes begin with a warm up program which improves
flexibility and stamina followed by corner work and
across the floor progressions which focuses on strong
jazz technique through combinations.
Hip Hop Classes are designed for pupils who wish to
dance to current music following today's modern trends.
Pupils learn a choreographed routine & find this
class fun & funky.
This class is suitable for pupils 6 years and over
and is an excellent introduction to learning about drama
and theatrical skills. Pupils will enjoy improvisation,
characterization, voice projection, mime, audition technique
and much more.
If you like the hit TV show "Glee" then this
class is for you. This class gives students the opportunity
to learn to sing in a group environment. By incorporating
modern songs with movement this class is a fun way to
learn to sing.
This class is designed specifically for children under
five years of age. Pupils will learn basic performance
skills incorporating tap, free movement, singing and
co-ordination.
This class is also designed for children under five
years of age with an interest in Classical Ballet. Pupils
will be introduced to the R.A.D. syllabus which teaches
the fundamentals of this style.
The extra attention provided with a private lesson
will prepare students for eisteddfods using their chosen
style of dance be it tap, ballet or jazz. Pupils learn
solo routines and with practice will achieve improved
results. Combined with their regular tap & jazz
class, students can gain impressive results by also
attending a ballet class.
During a singing private lesson pupils will be taught
a variety of singing exercises to strengthen the voice.
The lesson assists with confidence through learning
in a personalised atmosphere. Whether a students view
is towards competition in singing eisteddfods, preparation
for auditions, participation in exams or just simply
sing for fun in private or with a friend, singing private
lessons are a vital part of any performers training.
